Minutes = area ÷ speed × 60 + walks + drive. Per push = minutes ÷ 60 × rate, never below the minimum. Season = per push × pushes + salt × applications. Defaults are an example.

Enter the area to clear, how many square feet an hour your equipment clears, the minutes for walks and steps, the drive time and the hourly rate you need. The calculator prices one push, a heavy-snow push, salting and a seasonal contract. The defaults are an example; time your own equipment and use your own rate. Nothing is stored or sent.

Pricing a push by time

Minutes = area ÷ your clearing speed (sq ft per hour) × 60 + walks and steps + drive time. Price per push = minutes ÷ 60 × your hourly rate, never below your minimum.

Example: a 1,200 sq ft driveway cleared at 2,400 sq ft an hour takes 30 minutes; add 10 minutes for the walk and steps and 5 minutes of driving and it is 45 minutes. At $60 an hour the push is $45. A 50% heavy-snow surcharge makes a deep-snow push $67.50.

Per push or seasonal contract

A seasonal contract is the per-push price times the pushes you expect, plus salting. With 12 pushes at $45 and 8 salt applications at $15, the season is $540 + $120 = $660. The customer gets a fixed bill; you carry the risk of a heavy winter, so base the expected pushes on your own records for the route, or on snowfall history for your area from NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information (ncei.noaa.gov).

  • Set a trigger depth (for example 2 inches) in the contract so everyone knows when you come out.
  • Spell out the heavy-snow surcharge and the depth it starts at.
  • Price salt or ice melt per application and say what is included.
  • Charge for the first push of a long-unplowed storm separately if it takes much longer.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I charge for snow removal?

Price by time: minutes from the area and your clearing speed, plus walks and drive time, times your hourly rate, with a minimum. A 1,200 sq ft driveway at 2,400 sq ft/hour with 15 extra minutes at $60/hour is $45 a push.

How do I price a seasonal snow removal contract?

Multiply the per-push price by the pushes you expect in a season from your records or local snowfall history, then add salting. 12 pushes at $45 plus 8 salt applications at $15 is $660.

Should I charge more for deep snow?

Yes, deep snow takes longer. A surcharge above a set depth, such as 50% over 6 inches, keeps heavy storms profitable.

Is this an average snow removal price?

No. Prices vary widely by area and equipment, so the calculator uses your own speed and rate. The defaults are an example only.

How do I send the snow removal quote?

Put the per-push price, trigger depth, surcharge and salting on a written quote. Instant Quote Maker does it on your phone and converts it to an invoice.
